Little Trouble Girls

Trailer
British Film Institute

Introverted 16-year-old Lucia joins her Catholic school’s all-girls choir and befriends outgoing Ana-Maria. But when the choir travels to a countryside convent, Lucia’s interest in a renovation workman tests her friendships with the girls. As she navigates unfamiliar surroundings and her budding sexuality, Lucia begins to question her beliefs and values, disrupting the harmony within the choir.

This assured directorial feature debut from award-winning Slovenian director Djukić is reminiscent of Céline Sciamma’s early work, combining an intimate focus on female sexual awakening and a tender look at the complexities of teenage friendship, here set within a religious community. Winner of the FIPRESCI award for best film at the 2025 Berlinale, Little Trouble Girls delivers a sensitive female coming-of-age story with universal relevance and marks the emergence of an exciting new voice in European cinema. [Description from BFI Player]
